2021 led the drive for greater sustainability

As the pandemic continued through 2021, it became clear that greater sustainability in the fashion industry is essential. Across the industry there was a greater commitment to working together to make real change and set the agenda to achieve goals.

The year saw greater development in circular fashion with more biodegradable and more sustainable fabric collections offering cleaner footprints. Resale was booming, with more brands developing their own initiatives or partnering with resale platforms and upcycling joined the mainstream agenda, with designers teaming up with brands to create more sustainable creations. There was a move from many of the major labels into rental, again either through their own sites, or through partners such as My Wardrobe, who even opened their own pop up within Harrods.

2022 will see more initiatives to reduce the environmental impact of fashion and make sustainability more accessible to all.
