London Fashion Week Review – On|Off - IA London

I discovered the IA LONDON brand last season and have been really impressed by both the collection which is outstanding but also the ethos of the designer.

IA LONDON is a British Avant-garde fashion brand that offers a variety of women’s and men’s garments and accessories, designed and made to the highest quality here in the UK. Founded by Cambridge-based designer and creative director Ira Avezov, she begins her design process by creating a series of hand-painted digital artworks, working directly on the pattern. These paintings become the surface of IA’s garments and define their distinctive appearance.

The show notes tell us that for AW19, IA London is proposing to reconsider our own imminent death as another fashion event. “Making a good last impression is so important. “What will I wear to my funeral?”, “Are my lips full enough?” “Will I look young/sexy enough?” all are questions to be carefully considered while thinking about your funeral.”

This season the artisanal collection includes unique sculpture-like pieces. Authentic artworks are digitally printed on heavy velvet, cotton twill and opaque silk. The collection included printed leggings, hijabs and silk tote bags that were all designed in-house.
