Review - i-am-chen | Fashion Scouts to Watch

My favourite designer from Fashion Scout’s Ones to Watch this season was i-am-chen.

Hong Kong based designer Chen Zhi, is behind the knitwear label. The label in its third year achieved its aim of striving to bring the fun and light-hearted spirit to people who embrace an eternal sense of childish playfulness.

Focusing exclusively on knitting, i-am-chen challenges the definition of knitting by creating garments made by advanced machines with new techniques, using unconventional yarns. Chen writes computer programs for machines to create densely knitted fabrics that can be manipulated like woven materials while keeping the elasticity and softness of the knit.

By playing with different machines and yarns, Chen creates unique garments full of eye catching shapes and wearable colour combinations.

The collection was fresh, fun and bright with many wearable pieces that would add charming pops of colour to any wardrobe. Definitely a brand to keep an eye on.
